Troop 14 Weekly Update for March 19th, 2012

NEED TO FINISH YOUR COMMUNICATIONS BADGE?

One of the requirements for this merit badge is to attend a government meeting and report on a difference of opinion that is expressed.

Tomorrow (Monday) would be a great opportunity to do this, as there will be a citizen speaking against the proposed Spring Lake Dog Park. The Parks and Rec board have suggested trying to get as many people in support of the proposed park to attend.

If your son would like to complete this requirement, or he (and your family) would like to show support for the proposed dog park, please attend the meeting at Barber School, 7pm, Monday. Scouts are asked to be in uniform.

TRAVEL SHIRTS ARE IN

Scouts going on the Indy 500 trip and High Adventure will need a travel shirt. Because the shirts all look the same and are unique, it makes it easier when counting heads during a trip.

Older style shirts with checkerboard collar are $18.00 and these sizes are left:
3 small
1 medium
1 extra-large
2 XXL

New shirts with plain red collars are $25.00 and these sizes are left:
4 small
4 medium
4 large
2 extra-large

The Troop trailer is being updated with new decal/logos.

We are looking for someone who does automotive finishing that would be willing to donate their time to help us restore the color.

CAMPOUT AT GERBER

Sign up for Gerber Camp out is still open.

Any Scout holding a youth leadership position must attend this camp out on March 23rd-25th. If you cannot attend, you will have to attend the council youth orientation on March 17th.

APRIL 10TH - TROOP MEETING AT GO GEAR!

WHEN: Tuesday, April 10th at 6:30pm
WHERE: Go Gear on Harvey Street in Muskegon

For that meeting, the troop will be having a backpacking/camping equipment talk. Join us to gather information on the best methods and gear as well as to garnish great discounts that night!

Troop 14 is planning on visiting the Kalamazoo Airzoo.

SUMMER CAMP: UPDATES AND REMINDERS

Any Scouts attending summer camp need to have a new completed health form that Part C has been completed by a physician. These must be done by May 1st, 2012.

If you are an adult and plan on attending Summer Camp, you must have a clearance through the State of Michigan. This form is the DHS form. These can be accessed through the GRFC website.
