  • The Iron Chef camp out will be held at Owasippe this year the weekend of November 4-6th.  The cost will be $35 per scout.  Scouts will enjoy fishing, camping, and the annual cooking competition!  Webelos II have also been invited to attend to judge the competition on Saturday night!  Can the Raptor Patrol continue their reign on the competition with a three peat?  Sign up today to take the challenge!  Registration must occur on TROOPMASTER by Tuesday, October 25th.   Payment and PERMISSION SLIPS are due at Tuesday's Troop Meeting.  If you do not have current health forms parts A and B turned in from previous events, please bring a copy.

SEPTEMBER CAMP OUT
 
What: Fish & Mountain Bike Campout
When: September 16-18
Where: Owasippe Scout Reservation, Campsite #6, Camp Wolverine
Cost: $25/person.  Payment is due at the Troop meeting on September 13th.
Registration: Must register on TROOPMASTER by Tuesday, September 13th.
Departure: Meet at Owassippe, 6:30 pm in main parking lot (9900 Russell Rd, Twin Lake, MI 49457)- Parents must arrange transportation of their scouts and their gear.
Return: Parents pick up Scouts on Sunday at 1 pm from Owasippe
Permission Slips: Scouts must complete and bring a permission slip.  Permission slips can always be found on Troopmaster under File/Documents.  Please bring permission slips to the September 13th Troop meeting.
Health Forms: Scouts must have current health forms parts A and B. Please bring a copy to the September 13th meeting.  
Equipment to Bring:
  • Mountain Bike Gear (if you want to ride): bike, helmet (required), safety glasses for biking, water bottle or hydration pack (to carry on rides)
  • Fishing equipment: fish pole, tackle (bobbers, hooks, sinkers and artificial lures if you wish), bait (wax worms, red worms, night crawlers, Meal Worms will all work)

Canoe Trip Weekend
July 16-17
 
We will be canoeing the White River from Hesperia to Happy Mohawk.  We will be canoeing both Saturday and Sunday and camping overnight.  

Reminder: Registration deadline for this event is Monday, July 4th.
  • Departure: July 16.  We will depart on Saturday morning from the SL Orchard Market.
  • Return: Sunday, July 17th. Exact time will depend on what time we break camp on Sunday, but we should be home by 4 pm.
  • Cost: $50.  Money for this event will be collected at departure.
  • Requirements: Open to all scouts.  All scouts MUST have passed the BSA swim test. Having the Canoeing Merit Badge is preferred.  Scouts who do not have the canoeing merit badge will be paired with an adult or older scout who has taken and earned the badge.

Summer Camp

Troop 14 will be attending summer camp at GERBER SCOUT RESERVATION Sunday, June 12th-Saturday, June 18th.  The cost is $310 for scouts and $145 for adults.  This includes the Wednesday night family night dinner.  
  • A $100 deposit is now due and final payment is due is by April 26th.  After this date, there is an additional $15 late fee to register.  
  • Merit badge classes will be open for registration April 4th.  This year there is a ‘Parent Portal’ which allows the individual scout to select and sign up for merit badges online.  Once a scout is registered in TROOPMASTER, and after your deposit has been paid, you will be sent your log in information and password.  
  • The MERIT BADGE SCHEDULE is now available, as well as the PRE REQUISITES needed for merit badge classes.  Some merit badge classes do fill up quickly!  It is recommended that you sign up as soon as possible.  
  • New/Incoming scouts will be participating in Eagle Quest for first year campers as well as Camping and Wilderness Survival.   Registration will be taken care of for our new scouts.  
  • Health forms PARTS A, B and C (physician signed) are required for summer camp.

CABERFAE SKI TRIP

It's time again for our annual Caberfae Peaks Ski Trip!  We'll need a minimum of 20 participants for the trip. If you are planning on attending but have not yet signed up, you are encouraged to sign up now so we can best determine numbers.
  • January 8-10 @ Caberfae Peaks Resort near Cadillac.  Total cost is per person is $120 (this depends on the amount of people registered). This includes travel, lodging at the resort, ski rental (snowboard & snow blades extra $5) lessons $5 extra, food and LOTS OF FUN for the weekend. Must have skier information for rental in advance. Leave on Friday evening after school and return Sunday around 11 am. Register onTROOPMASTER by December 27.

SEPTEMBER CAMP OUT
For the first camp out of the year we'll be heading to Owasippe Scout Reservation in Twin Lake, September 18-20!  There will be an opportunity for mountain biking and/or fishing.  All scouts are invited!  Please sign up in troopmaster by Tuesday, 9/15/2015.
  • Please drop your scout off at Owasippe at 7 pm Friday, September 18th.  The address is 9900 Russell Rd. Twin Lake, MI 49457.  This is NOT Gerber Scout Reservation
  • There will be an opportunity to ride the trails at Owasippe.  Scouts not interested in mountain biking will have the opportunity to fish.
  • Bring your bike (mountain bike preferred, BMX okay), helmet, and safety/riding glasses.
  • Scouts who would like to fish should bring fishing gear. 
  • The cost id $30.

JULY CAMP OUT
 
 
We will be camping at PJ Hoffmaster State Park located at 6585 Lake Harbor Rd, Muskegon.  We have reserved the group campsite.  Activities will include day hikes, swimming and potentially some activities toward merit badges.  All scouts are welcome to attend!
  • .Friday, July 10-Sunday, July 12th
  • Scouts should be dropped off at the PJ Hoffmaster (at the group site) on Friday at 5 pm.  They should eat a meal before arriving, but some food/snacks will be provided in the evening.
  • Pick up will be at 11 am at the campsite.  
  • The cost is $30.   Please register on TROOPMASTER by July 7th.
  • Please pack for general and summer camping: PACKING LIST.  Don't forget your swimsuit!  Hammocks and camp chairs are also acceptable additions to the list.

SUMMER CAMP

A deposit of $100 is due for summer camp.  The remaining balance of $210 is due by April 28th.  (There is a sibling discount of $25 for the 2nd scout).  Beginning April 14th, and once your final payment is made, you may register for merit badges.

MARCH LEADERSHIP CAMP OUT
  • March 20-22, 2015 @ Camp Gerber.  We will be staying in the Venture cabins. Scouts will receive training on leadership in the troop. All scouts that need training for leadership position should plan on  attending.  Everyone is welcome for a weekend of FUN even if you don't have a leadership position!  
SUMMER CAMP
  • June 14-20 Registration for summer camp is now open on Troopmaster.  Cost includes Wednesday Family Night meal.

WINTER CAMP OUT
  • Friday 2/13: We will be meeting at 7 pm at Orchard Market  to purchase the food for the camp out.  
  • Saturday 2/14: We will be meeting at 8 am (Orchard Market, SL) and will return at noon Sunday (Orchard Market, SL).
  • What to pack: WINTER CAMP OUT CHECKLIST.  Please note: extra money will be needed for optional activities at the Winter Sports Complex!
  • Polar Bear: Scouts attempting to earn the Polar Bear award are required to hike into the campsite 1/2 mile with their gear. A backpack or sled to pull gear is encouraged.  
  • Luge: We have 19 signed up for the luge from 7-9:30 pm (and it's completely sold out for 2/14!) All participants are outfitted with elbow pads, a helmet, and a well-maintained luge sled.

Join us for the July Camp Out!    This event is open to all scouts of any age and rank.  We will be camping at the Petoskey State Park for 4 nights.   In order to move forward with planning this trip we need a few more participants to sign up.
