JULY CAMP OUT
 
Join us for the July Camp Out!    This event is open to all scouts of any age and rank.  We will be camping at the Petoskey State Park for 4 nights.   In order to move forward with planning this trip we need a few more participants to sign up. Summer Camp 2014

SUMMER CAMP 2014

Below please find important information regarding our week at Gerber Scout Reservation!  
DEPARTURE INFORMATION
  • Sunday, June 15: We will meet in the Holmes parking lot at 11:00 am to prepare for our departure to Gerber.  
  • Scouts should be wearing a full Class A uniform for traveling to camp.  This includes the scout shirt, scout pants or shorts, scout socks, neckerchief and slide. 
  • If you have not turned in your health forms, you will need to provide 2 copies of all forms -parts A,B and C, copy of health insurance card( both front and back).  Be sure they are filled out completely including the date of last tetanus shot.
  • Leave all medications in their original containers and label them with scout's name and Troop 14.  Put all medication in a ziplock bag.  Medication will be collected at this time.  
  • If you would like to purchase a camp photo you must sign up pay at this time.  The cost is $12.  
  • We have 4 adult leaders attending camp.  Therefore they cannot drive all of our scouts to camp.  Please be sure to make travel arrangements for your scout.  The address is:

WHAT TO BRING
  • The gear list can be found here.  Label your gear.
  • Many scouts find it helpful to pack their belongings in a large plastic tote.
  • Feel free to bring along camp chairs and hammocks for down time.
  • Swimsuits should be packed on top.  They will complete their swim test following check in.  
  • Medications (please see information above)
  • Bring any completed merit badge prerequisites.  You can locate the prerequisites starting on page 42 of the 2014 Guidebook.
FAMILY NIGHT
  • If you signed up to attend family night, please arrive at 5 pm on June 18th for dinner and awards.  We do not know our site information until check in.  An additional email will be sent with location details.
  • Please bring your own table service for the meal.  
LEAVING CAMP
  • If a scout needs to leave early from camp, a guardian or designated adult listed on the health form must fill out a Scout Release Request.  The forms are available in the office.  Please see page 22 of the 2014 Guidebook for complete details.
  • Pick up from camp is Saturday, June 21 at 10:00 am.

 UPCOMING TROOP MEETINGS
  • Monday, May 26th: Memorial Day Parade.  Please meet at the Dollar General Parking lot by 10:15 (parade starts at 10:30) Full Class A uniform required (no shorts please).  The parade ends at Central Park.
  • Tuesday, May 27th: the leaders will be at the Lost City in Holland at 7 pm to play some laser tag.  All are invited to join the fun, including parents and siblings!  $9 for two games and mini golf or mini bowling. Bring extra money if you'd like to play video games or purchase snacks.  If interested, please reply to this newsletter with number attending.

Swimming Merit Badge
  • What: The Swimming Merit Badge will be offered by Curt Brower
  • When: Wednesday, April 30 at 6:00 pm
  • Where: Spring Lake Aquatic Center
  • Who: Any scout who would like to earn the Swimming Merit Badge.  This badge is an option for Eagle Rank.
  • What to Bring: $5 if not a member of the SL Aquatic Center.  Also needed are long pants and a long sleeve shirt (such as a dress shirt) that can get wet, cotton is best, no moisture wicking shirts.

MARCH LEADERSHIP CAMP OUT
  • Friday March 21-Sunday March 23 at Camp Gerber.  Cost is $30.  Registration will be open until March 11.  Sign up today!
INDY 500
  • Indy trip is on!  Memorial Day weekend 2014, May 24th-25th.   Final payment is due by April 1.  There are still spots available if you'd like to participate. 
SUMMER CAMP
  • Registration for summer camp is now open on Troopmaster.  $150 deposit must be paid before registering for merit badges.  Total cost will be $285 and includes all merit badge fees.  Final camp payment is due April 29th.  Scouts who have made their deposit are now able to register for merit badges.  A schedule is available online.  After merit badges have been selected, please see Scott Navarre.  
HIGH ADVENTURE 2014-Cole Canoe Base
  • July 13-19 at Cole Canoe Base in Alger, MI.  
  • Cost of $335 is due by Tuesday, May 6th.  
  • 4 days on Au Sable river.  An easy float down the river to allow for some good fishing!  Friday will include water activities and a firebowl. 
  • Scouts must have achieved First Class Rank by Summer Court of Honor to be eligible.  
PHILMONT HIGH ADVENTURE 2015
  • Cimarron, New Mexico, August 13, 2015. Scouts must be 14 years of age or have completed 8th grade. Scouts must also have achieved 1st class rank.  
  • There are 4 spots open.  Sign up in Troopmaster!
